Manual Installation

1.0 Introduction

These instructions apply to those that want to manually upload the wePrint Design Studio files. Also, those that are installing from an OS other than Windows need to install manually. If you want to install using the auto installer go here - Auto Install Guide.

The wePrint Design Studio install zip folder contains the windows installer and all the other files that need to be uploaded to your site. You need to upload these file using an FTP client. There are many free FTP clients out there (filezilla being a popular free FTP tool).

Instructions:
  1. Create the required database tables. See the DB setup guide.
  2. Unzip the wePrint installer zip folder.
  3. Open the wePrint install folder and configure the files per instructions below.
  4. Upload all files listed below.
  5. Set the appropriate directory permissions.

2.0 Configuration

The following files will be configured:
  1. shopdefaults.xml - The details of this file are described in the users guide in chapter 2.
  2. wep-tool-config.xml - The details of this file are described in the users guide in chapter 2.
  3. tool-title.html - This is simply the title across the top bar. This can be any html (i.e. add a logo)
  4. browser-title.html - This is the title that will show-up in the title bar of the browser.
  5. convert-location.php - This specifies the location of Imagemagick on your server. This is usually /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin. Your hosting company can provide you with this info or you can upload the file.
  6. connect_sql.php - Your database information.
The files in BOLD must be setup prior to running the design tool. The others can be configured at a later time.

3.0 File Uploads

The all the files within the designstudio folder need to uploaded to the design studio directory on your site. The directory does not need to be designstudio. You can name the design studio directory any valid name.

4.0 Directory Permissions

NOTE: This step is very important and required in order for the design tool to function.
The following directories on your site need to have their permissions changed to world writeable (777). This can be done from most FTP clients. The files that need to have their permissions set to 777 are:
  • designstudio/images
  • designstudio/saveddesigns
  • designstudio/admin/files
  • designstudio/admin/images
  • designstudio/admin/saveddesigns
  • designstudio/printadmin/saveddesigns
