The Technology Behind the wePrint Design Studio

Most (if not all) web based design software on the market is based on Adobe Flash. The wePrint Design Studio software is based on Imagemagick. Imagemagick is a very powerful graphics engine. The big difference between a Flash based tool and our tool is that Flash runs within the user's browser, whereas our tool runs from the server. Each method has advantages and disadvantages.

wePrint Design Studio:
Advantage: Since the graphics engine runs on the server, there is endless amounts of graphics computing power that can be added to the tool. So we have the ability to add more and more advanced features. There is no long load times since the graphics engine is not loaded into the browser.
Disadvantage: Since the graphics engine runs on the server, there is a communications between the browser and the server when the user makes an edit. We have optimized the communication path so that this communication link is instantaneous. However, a slow shared server may show a delay between the user's action and the on-screen re-action.

Flash based tool:
Advantage: The tool may run slightly faster since the graphics editing is done within the browser.
Disadvantage: There is only so much graphics power that can be added to a browser plug-in such as Flash. As more graphics power is added the Flash file becomes larger and requires a longer load time.

The wePrint Design Studio was originally created for the Direct-to-Garment Printing industry. However, our tool is flexible enough and has enough room for growth that we plan on serving all
printing industries and garment decorating industries.
