Chapter 6 - Design Studio Maintanence
The wePrint Design Studio includes a password protected folder admin for housekeeping tasks. The username and password should
have been defined during installation or manually in section 2 of this manual.
6.1 Performing Admin Tasks
Once you have changed the username and password and uploaded the login-check.php file to the admin directory on your site, you can login and perform the housekeepiong tasks, such as deleting temporary files and backing-up saved designs. These tasks are documented in
the help section within the admin directory.
6.2 Creating a Font Image
The fonts gallery is actually only one long image fonts.png. This image consists of one image for each font concatenated together. Before using the Create Font Image utility, you must have the fonts defined in the fonts.xml file. Also, the actual font file (fontname.ttf) must exist in the fonts directory.
The fonts.xml file that is in the fonts directory is live. DO NOT edit this file until you have the corresponding fonts image.
- Download the fonts.xml file to your local machine.
- Add/Remove fonts in the file.
- Upload the actual font file to the fonts directory. FILES ARE CASE SENSITIVE.
- Upload the new fonts.xml file to the admin directory.
- Click on the Create Fonts Button.
- Download the created fonts.png image.
- Upload the fonts.png image and new fonts.xml file to the fonts directory.
- Go to the design tool and verify that the fonts work correctly.
6.3 Backing up saved designs.
This option allows you to create a zip file of your saved designs and then download the zipfile to your local machine. You can always,
just download the design folders using ftp, however, this option allows you to create a single backup.
6.4 Purging temporary files.
The images directory, contains temporary folders and files that are used during the design process. If the a design is saved, the temp files associated with that design are removed. However, if a design is not saved, the temp files will not be deleted.
These old temp files can waste storage space. So this directory should be cleared out occasionally. You will not
want to delete these files up to the present date, otherwise designs that are currently being worked on will be destroyed. The cut-off time
should be 2 days or more, to allow for someone to have an idle design that the are working from. NOTE: The temporary images are created by
the web server during the design process, so they are owned by the web server, which prevents you from deleting these files using
an ftp tool. Your ftp username is seen as a different user than the web server, so the ftp user does not have permissions to
remove any files in the images directory.
6.5 Deleting old saved designs.
WARNING: This will permanently remove the designs you select, so be careful. Always, backup your files before deleting them.
You may find the need to remove old designs in order to free-up space on your server. With this feature, you can remove any designs beyond 30 days old. We recommend keeping 90 days of saved designs. NOTE: The saved designs directory files are created by the web server during the design process, so they are owned by the web server, which prevents you from deleting these files using an ftp tool. Your ftp username is seen as a different user than the web server, so the ftp user does not have permissions to remove any files in the saved designs directory.
